By IngeM66

The St. Louis SLAM women’s professional full contact football team, defending 2010 champion of the Women’s Football Alliance, is set to open its 8th season on Saturday night, April 10th. The SLAM will take on the Cincinnati Sizzle, a team coached by former NFL star, Ickey Woods. The SLAM is coming off of an outstanding 2009 season in which the team finished the regular season undefeated at 8-0 and advanced through the first two rounds of the playoffs at home before traveling to New Orleans where the SLAM defeated the West Michigan Mayhem in a thrilling championship game.

The SLAM is returning a number of experienced veterans, including 2008 leading tacklers, Kelly Kozlen, Tiara Pettis, and Rachael Hinkle; leading rushers, Chris Hampton and Turtle Brown; and top league receivers, Kelly Keen and Kate Evers. The SLAM will take on a Cincinnati team that recorded a 1-7 record in the WFA in 2009.

The first SLAM home game is Saturday, April 17, 2010, against the Minnesota Machine. Kick off is set for 7:00pm at Oakville High School, located at 5557 Milburn Rd, St. Louis, MO, 63129. Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors, $5 for children.
