The St. Louis SLAM women’s full contact football team is in the midst of another winning season, with a record of 7-0 in 2010. The SLAM defense is one of the top defenses in the league with four shutouts on the season. This season, a new star has emerged for the SLAM in linebacker, Tiara Pettis. Pettis is also a mathematics teacher at Hazelwood Central High School, balancing teaching with a hectic football schedule.

In her fourth season with the SLAM, linebacker and secondary mathematics teacher, Tiara Pettis, has become a force to be reckoned with in the WFA. She is the statistical and emotional leader of the SLAM defense and currently leads the league in tackles with 86 on the season. She has also registered 18 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, and 1 blocked kick.

Pettis and the SLAM defense will look to continue their dominance when they take on the Indiana Speed at home on Saturday, June 19, 2010. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm at Oakville High School.
